Surviving the 21st century as a woman is both liberating yet challenging. The plight of the woman is more ambiguous than ever with mixed messages from generational contexts and social media platforms. We wonder why it’s so difficult for women to be happy. How do you teach a girl or a woman to love themselves in a world that seems to hate everything about them?
Here are some things every woman should remember when the barriers of her gender are getting in between her and her happiness.
We are women.
We are strong. We may get tired and overwhelmed, but we are fueled by a purpose to fulfillment.
We are resilient. We push through and fight on as we build strength from overcoming challenges and tribulations.
We define our own success. Having it all does not mean having it all at once.
We say yes to what matters most. Everything else is a no.
We ask for help when we need it.
We make the invisible tasks visible. All of our work should be valued.
We accept that we are good enough. Perfection is overrated. We don’t care and we don’t compare.
We are our biggest supporters. We do not judge other women. We lift them up. Our womanhood depends on it.
We are leaders. We speak up, lean in and rise to the occasion, being proactive with our intent and purpose.
Our oppression lies in giving our oppressors the power to dictate our choices, control our behaviors, and submit to the status quo. We must challenge norms and question authority.
When we fall down, we get up. Every. Single. Time.
